ConsiderationsforusingtheExtenddesktopfunction
•InExtenddesktopmode,onlytheprimarydisplayshowsDOSfull-screenandtheotherdisplayis
blackedout.
•IfyourcomputerhastheIntelgraphicscard,youcandesignatetheprimarydisplaybydoingthefollowing:
1.Right-clickonthedesktopandselectScreenresolution.
2.ClickthedesireddisplayimageandselecttheMakethismymaindisplaycheckbox.
3.ClickOK.
•WhenaprogramusingDirectDraworDirect3Disrunninginfull-screenmode,onlytheprimarydisplay
showstheoutput.
•YoucannotusethedisplayswitchingfunctioninExtenddesktopmode.
UsingtheNVIDIAOptimusGraphicsfeature
SomeThinkPadnotebookcomputerssupportNVIDIAOptimusGraphics.
Toachievethebestbalancebetweenthecomputerperformanceandalongbatterylife,dependingonthe
graphicsqualitydemandoftherunningprogramandpowerplansettingsthatyouuse,theNVIDIAOptimus
GraphicsfeatureautomaticallyswitchesbetweenHighPerformanceGraphicsandEnergySavingGraphics,
withnoneedtorestartyourcomputer,closeprograms,orintervenemanually.
Usingthecolorsensor
Somemodelsareequippedwithacolorsensor.Thecolorsensorenablesyoutomeasureandadjustthe
coloraccuracyofyourdisplays.
Tousethecolorsensor,dothefollowing:
•ForWindows7:ClickStart➙AllPrograms➙X-Rite➙ColorCalibrator➙PANTONEColorCalibrator.
•ForWindows8:Movethecursortothetop-rightorbottom-rightcornerofthescreentodisplaythe
charms.ClicktheSearchcharmandsearchX-Rite.
Whenthecolorsensorisinuse,thecolor-sensorindicatorblinkstwiceatregularintervals.
Ifyourcomputercomeswithacolorsensor,thedisplayprovidesacolorprolethatcanworkwiththe
MicrosoftImageColorManagement(ICM)function.Ifthegraphicssoftwareyouareusingiscompatible
withICM,youcandisplayacolorimageonyourmonitorandmatchitwiththesamequalityoneonanother
device,suchasascanneroraprinter.
FordetailsonMicrosoftICM,refertotheWindowshelpinformationsystem.
Important:Afteryouusethecolorsensorforthersttime,acalibrationproleECCM2SensorData.datis
generatedandsavedinthedirectoryC:\ProgramData\X-Rite\ECCM-2.Backupthiscalibrationproleonan
externalmediadeviceincaseboththecolorsensorandtheharddiskdrive(orsolid-statedrive)needto
bereplaced.
Note:ThecolorproleforThinkPadLCDhasbeenpreinstalledonyourcomputeralready.Ifyouneedto
installadifferentcolorprole,gotohttp://www.lenovo.com/ThinkPadDrivers.Ifyouhavemeasuredand
adjustedthecoloraccuracyofyourdisplaybyuseofacolorsensor,youmightalsousethecolorprole
createdduringthatprocess.
